We understand it is frustrating on the roads right now for riders, pedestrians, drivers, and cyclists, alike. With the massive multi-year construction projects closing roads and reducing lanes we are all having to navigate an ever-changing landscape of road work. For our riders there is the added element of not only having delays and detours, but the influx of peak period is creating crowding experiences on many routes as well.

Major Construction Projects

Here are the major thoroughfares under construction which are impacting transit:

  • Adelaide – started in 2022 and anticipated to be completed in 2025
  • Dundas – started in 2023 and anticipated to be completed in 2025
  • Wellington – started in 2023 and anticipated to be completed in 2028
  • Highbury – started in 2024 and anticipated to be completed in 2026
  • Pond Mills – started in 2023 and anticipated to be completed in 2025

What we are doing

Here is what we are doing to try and keep our riders informed and alleviate the strain on the system where we can:

  • Posting detour and stop closure information as we become aware of transit impacts
  • Advanced notices posted on bus stops or at terminals with important information about affected routes and/or stop closures
  • Stop Closed or Temp Stop signage posted at affected stops
  • Dispatching additional buses and/or articulated buses when available
  • Updating realtime.londontransit.ca with all service-related impacts

What you can do

Here is what riders can do to stay in the loop and be prepared for your trip:

  • Plan to leave earlier, especially if you are travelling during peak periods. We know this isn’t ideal, but it is your best option to make it on time.
  • Use realtime.londontransit.ca for live arrival and detour information as well as bus capacity – find out more
  • Look for the signage at your stop – the best way for us to keep you updated is at the bus stop so if you see London Transit signage posted take a look as it provides important information.
  • Check frequently for updates to significant changes on our detours page – the date will change on the table for when it was last updated.

Remember that London Transit routes travel throughout the city and although you may not encounter construction on your commute, the route you are on may have encountered some delays due to construction earlier in its travels. And most importantly we thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate this together.
